The Brief
Pafex was a logistics management platform I ideated and led — not a project I was hired onto, but one I started, scoped, and built a team around. The vision was a broader system for logistics operations, with an accounts receivable ledger as one of its core modules, serving real clients including Sugar Cosmetics.
This is the project where I stepped fully into a founder-operator role: I didn't write the code myself — I hired the individuals who did, and my job was ideation, direction, and ownership of the outcome.
What the Platform Did
Pafex wasn't a single-purpose tool — it was built as a broader logistics management system, with the AR ledger as one working module inside it, used in practice for clients like Sugar Cosmetics to manage their receivables inside the platform.
Built on the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express, React, Node), the system was designed to grow into a fuller logistics operations suite beyond the ledger — with core modules functioning and further pieces still being built out.
My Role
I didn't build this hands-on. I ideated the product, led the project, and hired the individuals who did the engineering work. That's a different kind of ownership than the frontend-and-product roles I've had elsewhere — this was closer to running the thing than building it.
Leading a team on something you conceived yourself is a different skill than shipping code solo. The decisions that mattered most here weren't technical — they were about direction, hiring, and keeping a team moving toward a product that didn't exist yet when we started.
Where It Stood
Core modules of the platform — including the AR ledger in active use — were working. Other parts of the broader vision were still mid-build when the project ran out of funding during development, which brought active work to a stop before the full platform was realized.
What I'd Point To
Pafex is the project that shows a different side of how I work: not just as a builder, but as someone who can take an idea from nothing, put a team around it, and get real modules into real client use — even when the runway to finish the full vision wasn't there. It's a case study in leadership and ownership as much as it is in product.
